Here at Mobius we specialise in renovations for properties of all types, and there’s nothing we love more than a bit of interiors and renovation ‘inspo’, and where better to find it than Instagram. We spoke to the team behind one of our favourite local renovation accounts, @its_a_fixer_upper, to get their round up of the best accounts to follow if you’re thinking of taking the plunge with a reno.
First-time buyers with a tight budget, Amy and Ross are taking on a DIY renovation, restoring an 1897 terraced house in Bristol from a 70’s horror show to a modern Victorian interior. They’re a great example of showing the realities of a live-in renovation along the way, including uncovering hidden gems; two fireplaces, bannisters, original doors, and secrets of the cellar.
Renovation of a former “peach palace” Victorian villa in Leeds, Katie’s bold design choices make for a joyful and fabulous boutique interior. The project includes a modern kitchen extension which manages to be sympathetic to the age of the property and integrate the house and garden.
Taking on the challenge of completely renovating a north London ex-council flat, Olivia and her partner have painstakingly taken the flat back to floorboards and brick. Judging by Olivia’s mood boards, the interiors promise to be high-end and elegant.
Buying a house to renovate wasn’t enough for these two. They bought an entire estate to renovate! This is not their first rodeo. Property experts Borja and Dean took on this huge project after several successful refurbs. They hope to open to rent out the properties as holiday lets in the near future.
The mammoth undertaking of restoring a derelict Victorian mansion in the Lake District! Harecroft Hall has an amazing history, having been a school for nearly 100 years, until it fell into disrepair. Filming has just begun for an - at the moment unannounced - TV show about restoring derelict houses. Watch this space!
Lucy and Dan have taken a wreck of a Victorian semi in Birmingham, to a contemporary and chic home. They’ve beautifully balanced the house’s original character with a modern stylish extension, using creative interiors and upcycled projects.
Hannah and Stephen are completely renovating and building (!) their first home in London - on their own. This brave pair have achieved so much on a tiny budget, but they don’t shy away from the tough realities of doing it yourself - definitely not a job for the faint of heart.
Tara and Dean took on an unloved 1930’s semi-detached house several years ago and have transformed it quite literally from top to bottom. Including a brand new extension, new rendering and a stunning garden makeover, they’ve done almost everything themselves and believe it’s - it’s seriously impressive.
